Starved Rock State Park Shuttle

 Sit back and enjoy the ride, we will take care of the driving. We provide water and light snacks during the ride. Once we arrive at Starved Rock you can either take one of the guided hikes provided by Starved Rock guides, or feel free to tour the park at your leisure. We ask that all guests return to the designated meeting spot at 330 pm so that we can depart promptly at 4 pm.

Stops will be made only at the designated locations if confirmation/payment has been made using our online reservation system. Travel times are approximate and can not be guaranteed. If you have a group of 10-14 people, please contact us at 608-571-4937 and we can make special pick up accomadations.

About Starved Rock

Starved Rock State Park on the Illinois River bluff in La Salle County is one of Illinois'​ most beautiful destinations.  The park's 18 canyons feature vertical walls of moss-covered stone formed by glacial meltwater that slice dramatically through tree-covered sandstone bluffs.  More than 13 miles of trails allow access to waterfalls, fed season runoff or natural springs, sandstone overhangs, and spectacular overlooks.  Lush vegetation supports abundant wildlife, while oak, cedar and pine grow on drier, sandy bluff tops.

Recreational opportunities abound, from hiking to camping to fishing, boating and hunting. Starved Rock State Park's cultural history can be traced to 8000 B.C., with Native Americans tribes and European explorers documenting villages and encampments near the park along the banks of the Illinois River.  The park's name is derived from a Native American legend of a band of Illiniwek who died of starvation atop the 125-foot sandstone butte.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The Illinois State Parks Commission was initially headquartered in Starved Rock State Park after the park was purchased in 1911.

There are several dining options at Starved Rock Lodge & State Park. Within the Lodge, you’ll find historic ambiance in our Main Dining Room, where the atmosphere is friendly and casual. The Back Door Lounge is located on the east side of Starved Rock Lodge and has a laid-back atmosphere with great food and your favorite drinks. Just outside the Back Door Lounge, we offer outdoor dining on the Veranda (as weather permits). Located in the heart of LaSalle County, experience the scenic view of the Illinois River Valley and great food, too! It’s the perfect place for a family photo. Just off the hotel lobby is the Starved Rock Café which opens early to serve Douwe Egberts coffee, breakfast, lunch, snacks and even souvenirs.

Trailheads Snacks & Souvenirs is located inside the Starved Rock State Park Visitor Center. Fuel up before your hike with snacks, lunch, Artisan ice cream, fudge, funnel cakes and more.
